About Model Expo

From its humble beginnings in the Arts and Crafts pavilion at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds, The Australian Model Expo has grown into an event that now occupies over 2000 square metres.
Now held at the Sandown Entertainment Centre, the event has also evolved from having 200+ models on display, 5 or 6 traders and a handful of participating clubs, into an event that now attracts over 2000+models, up to 30 traders and 20 club and other displays, all of which come from across Australia and help showcase the hobby of plastic scale modelling.
Aside from the Australia wide participation the event also attracts a number of international visitors each year, making it truly a world class event.

Of course, organising an event of this nature doesn't just happen overnight and it is only through the dedicated efforts of the committee, supported by a large band of volunteers that it all comes together and runs like a well oiled machine.
The Australian Model Expo is also a unique event in many ways, as it is the only 3 day event of its kind anywhere in the country, boasts perhaps the largest plastic model Swap and Sell, has demonstrations running every day, includes in excess of 60+ competition categories and has the largest trader participation, all of which ensures that there is something to see and interest everyone.

The Australian Model Expo is not just another model show, but an all encompassing event that should not be missed.

We welcome any other Modelling Club or hobby group who wishes to display at Model Expo and encourage you to get in contact with us. There are a few guidelines for Displays to ensure we fit everybody in.

Exposé Model Show Application

Exposé came about around a desire to decrease the amount of manual entry and paper record keeping around running the Model Expo Competition. After the first use there was an immediate benefit realised by having competition data, results and statistics gathered and competitor information reused for subsequent events. Along its life it has grown and developed with enhancements to make it more capable and enable the workflow of competition admin to be greatly simplified.

Key Features
The key difference of Exposé to other similar systems are

  1. Multiple User Workstations using a local Network. Workstations can access the database using a simple web browser interface to access the Exposé system which is a webserver application.
  2. Re-use of competitor data and Record Keeping for subsequent competitions
  3. Production of Results and Presentation running sheets
  4. Export of results in multiple formats
  5. Export of Competition Statistics to a simple .CSV data file where it can be imported into other applications for detailed stats analysis.
