Special Awards

Model Expo has several special awards for which a model could be eligible .
These awards are provided by special interest groups and sponsors.

Best in Show - Bill Wallis Memorial Trophy

This is awarded to the Outstanding Model of the show by a team of Expo Committee judges, from all category winners. This is a memorial trophy to Bill Wallis who was the driving force behind Model Expo during its formative years.

2016 Winner -Mark Carlise

Best Automotive- Bill Hamer Memorial Trophy

This is awarded to the standout Automotive Model of the Show. This is a memorial trophy to Bill Hamer who was one of the founders of Model Expo and a keen auto modeller.

2016 Winner - Martin James

Stuart Ferguson Memorial Trophy

This is an annual trophy presented to the Intermediate Modellers. It is a memorial to a keen young modeller who passed away far too young.

Best Australian Aircraft - Civil

by Australian Aircraft Restoration Group

This award is for any Aircraft, military or civil with an Australian background, either by manufacture or usage. Civil Airliners by Australian Carriers qualify as well.

Best RAAF Subject - Kevin Kerle Memorial.

Presented by Waverley Scale Model Club

This award is in memory to a long standing modeller and WSMC member. This is for the Best RAAF subject.

2016 Winner - Eric Galliers

John Jordan Best WW1 Aircraft

Presented by Red Roo Models

This award is in memory to a long standing modeller from SPASM with a passion for WW1 aircraft.

2016 Winner - Hamish Stephen

Best Vietnam Era Subject

Presented by the National Vietnam Veterans Museum.

This is for any model that encompasses the Vietnam War period, it does not have to be entered into the competition to qualify. The model could also be part of a club display or vendors display.

2016 Winner -Andrew Eadon

Junior Model of Merit

To promote the juniors out there. This award is selected by the WAPM club, it is not necessarily a class winner, but a model that is seen as having the X factor for the younger folk.

People's Choice

This award is voted on by the public who come to Expo. Each visitor is given a ballot that is returned and tallied up on the final day.
